Is the 292 a torquey engine?

What are the stock numbers? I'm wondering because I'm looking at buying a 1959 f-100 with the 292 and 4speed manual.

In 1964 F100, this is what Ford wrote about my F100 with a 292 and 3spd:

Max. HP @ RPM: 160 @ 4000
Max. Gross Torque (lbs-ft @ rpm): 270 @ 18-2000

270 lbs-ft torque!!!

You have a 1959 F100. If its still got the original engine, I believe it makes even more power than what I wrote above for my truck. 57-59 heads are the most free-flowing heads ever made for the Y-block.

If your 4spd has a granny gear, you could tow anything.

The said its a granny 4-speed, I think its the original engine, I'll have to ask though.

You want have any problems with it. Mine will pull house down, then again it does have the T-98a, with a 514 rear gear. The 292 makes its power right were you wont it, for a truck.
