Vibration

Okay, so I have noticed the last few days, as I get above 55mph and approach 58-60mph I have a vibration that I feel more in the seat. Definitely not in the steering wheel at all. I have also noticed the suspension seems to be squeeking alot more over bumps. Is this the infamous carrier berring vibrating? I have been in a lot of road salt the last month or so. (Some I myself have put down )

BTW, It feels just like my mustang did when the driveshaft bolts were loose but everything looks tight.

Carrier bearing would be my guess, but don't forget to check the simple things like low pressure in a tire. Those can cause a funny feeling also.

Have you crawled under there and checked for any play in the carrier?

I got the same problem, vibration around 70 MPH and alot of sqeaking. I have been told it could be the sway bar bushings or the spring bushing wore out. I've been trying to hold out for warmer weather to tackle them.

I've been through all of this, for 100k miles. It was the driveshaft. One of the yokes had warn and the cup on the brand new u-joint I put in a couple of times was sort of slopping around in the yoke. Easy cure, take the driveshaft to a driveline shop and they will find out whatever it is that is wrong. Be it the carrier bearing or whatever. All I know is that $120.00 later I was out the door with what felt like a brand new truck.

Most driveline balancing services will not r and r the shaft. I had to take it out myself and deliver it to them. That sucker is nearly a 2 man job to carry. But I sure am glad I went to the trouble and work to get it done.

Check too if the bearing's rubber raceway and bracket are square on the frame, mine got out of whack over time and was shifted to one side and it caused vibration. I heard that once that bearing goes it squeals pretty bad.

Mine has a slight vibration at takeoff. The new lift cured the axle wrap, but it is most definitely my carrier bearing. Lift guy told me so.....had to order the part.

Sorry to just be getting back to y'all. I have looked under briefly the other day in the rain. The last two days, it's been on the chilly side. Supposed to be sleet and freezing rain tonight giving way to rain tommorow. Maybe Sunday??? Hopefully before the rodeo. I'll yank on a few things and see what gives. Thanks for all the replies guys. I hope it's one of the few things mentioned here. I'll update if/when I find something.
