Hmm... Cool it? I just pointed out the difference between the two types and provide a link to some good quality information about GM alternators. You mock me, then swear at me and I'm the bad guy?
because your links prove a 302 is more efficient then a 239 they prove 8 wires can be used better then 1 wire. And Chris and I don't care and don't see many people caring. But yet it is all you post.
I'm curious why your jumpy at my reply rather the other one.
If there is a thread Nathan I need your help then you are the man, but I don't think you have to expect that from a thread posted by Chris or I.
Well yeah the smaller the better i would imagine! Then again its been awhile since ive looked under the hood of an old truck, I cant recall how much wiring there is under there.
There is always 2 main runs on a truck i figure one down the driver side with is most of the time headlights horn etc. passenger side may have charging system, have to look at your truck. I did look at the 49 and figured it would go good if I sent a run across the firewall mainly for the starter then a run down the driver inner fender that supplies alternator, headlights, horn and somewhat gauges.
But since of thinking of this I decided not to do it on my 49 but I may do it on the 67&69. 1/2 inch would look good/ fit for my trucks.
ya I know the temptation for a newwer power plant is always there, If anything I'd be putting in a small diesel, but gladly I don't have to think of that since I got a running happy 239 in it.
A small diesel would definatly be unique. Ive always loved the idea of a small economical diesel in a neat old truck. Might be somewhat of a project to do but sure would be cool.
I know Combine World usually has a couple 3.9 or 4.9L 4 cylinder Cummings swather motors, figured thats all a GOOD 239 Flathead has but then have to find/make a bellhousing tranny mounts, so ya a thought is all it got.
Wouldn't be, you need a damn good metal lathe though and alot of patience, which are 2 things I lack. But i do assume they already have a bellhousing of some sort. Then thats when i started to think of a oldsmobile diesel which fits well but once again a GM product blah blah blah
That would be hella sweet. It didnt work well though when the chevy tried that with the 5.7 liter diesel so im kinda glad ford didnt try that. But they coulda did something similiar.
I know there are alot of horror stories and I mean ALOT but a kid couple years older then me fixed up his 5.7 diesel. he admits dick all for power but it is reliable and great milleage.
