Somethings are def. cooler then others. I might as well bring up most alternator swaps for old Ford trucks use a genuine quality GM made alternator. (they are not as big and ugly as Ford setups)

The GM and Ford alts are the same size. An alt looks like an alt. Everyone uses the GM ones because they can get them chromed and the "one wire" option. The one wire alts aren't as good as the 2/3 wired ones.

I guess I'll just use my ugly 130 amp 2 wire 3a Ford alternator.

most use the gm alt for the one wire feature as it cleans up the engine compartment just a little bit and its super easy to hook up. I myself will prolly go with it once i need to change from the generator

Its just the standard and prettist to use, guess better wording. Remeber the reson why flatties are purdy is the absence of excess wire.

Actually more Chevy parts fit flatheads and Y blocks then newwer Ford parts. Kinda funny. example would be Y blocks can use modiefied SBC headers. Flathead motors use the same thermostat as a SBC or 318 Chrysler. Oil filter is a John Deere (kinda)

I like that aspect to. I'm guessing someone is going to bring up Arduns have valve covers.... hehehe. But it's not a valve cover if it houses spark plugs.

How much of a modification is it to use sbc headers on a Y-Block?
