powers steering conversion. draglink?

If I have 78-79 tie rod ends and adjustable sleeve 5.5 inches ( the left tie rod is from a 78 f-250 the right from a 79 f-350)

do i need a draglink of certain length and from what year? 78-79s??

one more thing. If I am putting this on a 75 do i need a drop pitman arm and drop tie rod becaseu my 75 (a highboy) is higher than the 78-79s?

And a drop draglink for that matter?

I was able to use the stock draglink from the 78 F250 4x4 I uses for the steering box. I never had to get a drop down pitman arm either. Basically, I used the steering box, pitman arm and draglink from the 78 F250 4x4.

great. Thanks for the pic too!

What brand of steering shaft is that you have? Is it a 78-79 shaft?

Is there a difference between a 79 f350 draglink and an f250??

Its a borgeson steering shaft. I bought mine from Summit Racing. Expensive though at $260. It's nice because I could cut it to length and has a slip connection so you don't have to remove the column in order to take off or put on the shaft. The U-joints aren't supposed to wear out either. IMO, a very nice shaft. The stock ones I find, usually are wore out and not worth using, but if you find one or have one that's in good shape, you should be able to use it.

My truck is a 77 highboy, but the setup shouldn't be that much different on your 75.

There shouldn't be that much difference in a 79 F350 4x4 draglink than a 78/79 F250 4x4, but I can't be sure though. Usually, people swap out the front Dana 60s from the F350s and I don't think they have to get a different drag link. LIke I said, I'm not positive on that though.

Borgeson eh. ya i have used there shafts. They are nice.

Did you have to order a specific borgeson model to do your conversion?? to a specific year? i know they have borgesons for 73-77 and a different one for 78-79.

if i have the tie rods ends with adjuster I can use my 75' drag link? right?

BTW your rig looks nice!! I can tell you have spent some serious time with the details I can see.

x2 on everything bucks77 said. I too have a 77, and I was able to use the later drag link and box in conjunction with the borgeson shaft. I drove it for awhile with that draglink unaltered, but during extreme articulation it would bind very slightly, causing the the boots to pop off the joint. I eventually put it in a vise, heated it up in the middle, and twisted it a few degrees so that the pitman arm to steering knuckle angle would match. I haven't had a boot pop off since, and it doesn't bind during articulation. I wasn't too keen on heating a steering peice, but it is a pretty stout link, and I only had to twist it slightly.
