77 4x4 tie rod swap to 78/79 style???

Hi. I just got a 77 150 a couple of months ago and am about to put a 4.5" kit on it. i was told the steering should be swapped to the 78/79 style so i got the tie rods and adjustment sleeve for the 78/79 style to install. Will my truck need to be modified to accept these or will they simply bolt up? Thanks in advance.

I did one of those swaps years ago. I took everything used from a 79 F-150 I had and put it on a 77, was a direct bolt on, they were both F-150 4x4's

76-77s use the Y-style steering whereas the 78-79s use the T-style steering. Going with the T-style reduces the number of moving parts and is less susceptible to bump steer.

If you're going with a 4.5-inch lift, I suggest both the dropped pitman arm AND dropped trackbar bracket, RA drop brackets, 2 to 4 degree C- bushings, and new poly bushings everywhere. IMO, the "best" kit out there is from BDS Suspension.
