Got an '08 - have a machine shop - want to do some custom billet aluminum badges for my truck (2 front doors and tailgate). Something along the lines of "6.4L ULSD TWIN TURBODIESEL" ... I spent 7k for a diesel option and the only badging is the fender grille?
SO the question becomes, what is the FONT, Ford uses? I want the new badges to blend with the existing factory ones.
I've been thinking of doing some emblems that just say SUPERDUTY in the 08 font myslef... I can't find anything in that type of font so I'd like to know what someone can come up with too.
With articles like "mileage sucks", "would you bla bla bla" etc ... no one has any idea on what the font is used in Fords badging? looks like this is going to be a bigger question than I thought - or badging and fonts are not as romantic as saying your truck is broken ;-)
Come on seriously - HELP? please with suger on top and everything
Open up MS Word and look down the list of fonts, pick one thats close and go with it. I don't think its that no one knows, I think its that no one cares what font it is.
He already has the proofs up for the 08 Trucks.. He's been doing Billet Badges for quite some time now.. He did my custom ones on my 04.. He has all the work to match the Ford Fonts and others etc..
Steve did ones for me before - and damn good work too - I'm just looking at the flexibility of doing my own thats all.
As for no one caring... you know, with all due respect, statements like that are unnecessary. If no one knows and they arent responding because no one cares, what does that say for this forum in general? I suspect you may be incorrect
As for MSWord - yes went through them before I posted this, yes looked through my PROCAM fonts, and yes, did not find them - or anything close. If your not going to do it right, no need to bother - I am still hoping someone here has an answer and yes I do not feel comfortable asking Steve - it's his livelihood - if I ask him, I might as well order a set for my truck - something I did in the past.
I am simply looking for someone who may have been here before, who has an answer, so I can make anything I want for my own truck, with my own equipment because it's fun - simple as that
Well frankly, there are NO fonts for the Ford writing except for the actual "FORD" on the ovals.. I am a graphic artist and I've searched high and low.. The reason Steve can match it was the help of talented artists that could draw up the lettering perfectly and make it into a TTF file.. However I highly doubt you'll find it available online, Freeware or even Commerical
However I'll call some of my contacts and see if I can't locate one.. I could probably make a TTF file for the font, just never really crossed my mind as Steve does all my work for me..
Well thats it - and in all fairness, I'm not looking to take food out of anyones mouth so I appreciate that. I suspected the font was proprietary, but hoped someone would have a lead on something at least close - and haven't found that - I have found some screwy fonts but nothing useful
And thats the scoop on that one - so if you have something, I'm all ears. I suspect I could also take something close in TTF format, modify it to look like the ford font and save it back, correct?

If you have the software to tear the TTF file down sure..
I'm waiting on a buddy to call me.. I might have a source for the file.. I know for a fact Ford didn't copyright the font style.. Therefore someone might have already ported it, just not as "Spoke of" like other fonts.. I'll PM when I get an answer from my buddy.. I'm going to a commerical Font site right now to see if I can locate it..
Years ago in another life, doing print design, you could use fontographer to build your type faces. I bet you could still use it to tweak what you are looking for. I would have to bet that some board truck junky has got close to he character set built if you are only looking for letter forms.
Do you own the machine shop ?
I wil talk with a few of my old design buddies and see what exists
