I love the exhaust sound of my rig, but the engine itself is a bit noisy under load. Especially on longer drives. It was a cab and chassis when I picked it up, so i'm sure soundproofing wasn't high on the priority list. Any suggestions????? Other than taking my foot out of it???
go to pepe boys and get the rolls of dynomat (well the knockoff brand anyway)
its cheap and it worked great in my mustang. i have some rolls i am going to use on the truck. i am pulling the carpet completly and lining the whole floor all the way up the back of the dash as far as it goes and up the back wall of the cab. i am also lining the door panels and side panels too. my goal is to have it like that new car commercial with the ferocious badgers and the cannons goin off
Do you have an HPX on your truck Fullcrew?? I put one on my truck and It defiantly made the engine a bit quieter at speed an at idle. c00n has a much better solution, but an HPX is 2-fold, helping engine and making it quitter
Here, scroll down to 94-97 trucks http://members.***.net/kcmdieselperformance/ford.htm
The HPX line connects both sides of the High pressure oil rails and equalizes the pressure between them. This allows the ICP to get a more accurate reading than on just one head. This gives a smother, quieter idle, better throttle response, and I've seen quieter engine noise at highway speed and high RPM's. just an overall good mod for $55 shipped.
Here is a pic from KCM Performance (no not my engine... mine is MUCH cleaner )
I've thought about the HPX, but haven't done it. Maybe I'll keep it in mind. Hey coon, any idea where I might find that mat in Canada??? Maybe I'll have to do a little research now that I know what to look for.
Thx.
Ebay is the cheapest place for dynamat by far. You get the bulk packs which are 36 sq ft for just over 100 on ebay. Ive done the doors in my truck and cant wait to find time to do the rest. The doors alone made a huge difference.
Also, take a look at your weather stripping around the windows and doors. Worn out, can allow a lot of road noise to get in the cab.

Is that a current photo of engine bay?
The orange turbo intake elbow can collapse under a wot run.
They make an upgrade elbow (oem) (black).

Bill, thats not a shot of my engine, however I do still have the orage piece in mine too. Where a place to get the black one for 99+ truck at a low price?
The black oem will come as a kit (hose, mount bracket, plastic CCV tube/connector). They have aftermarket elbows. Sorry no link. I have only used the OEM. Dont like open element air intakes.

Alright I'll keep an eye out, I don't really have a need for the Bracket, ccv tube or any of that other stuff. Thanks Bill
