engine tool question

Where would I be able to purchase the tools required to set the cam to crank timing on a 2004 2.3L engine. Mitchell's has the tool numbers but I have been unsucessfull so far. What happened was I had a oil filter gasket blow out and lost all oil. This resulted in tearing a bearing on the Number 1 cylinder rod out. I was fortunate enough to not lose the engine all the way. I have the block, head and oil pump cleaned and ready for reassembly. Just waiting for the crank to be finished, to complete the job.

This engine has a friction disc setup on the crank to hold the drive gear for the cams and the oil pump. The one tool screws into the side of the block and will hold the crank at TDC for no.1 cylinder. The cam tool hold the cams in proper alignment when inserted into the grooves on the rear of the cams. OTC makes a tool kit for the ZTEC 2.0 engine ( OTC-6486). Does anyone know if this will work?

Thanks for the information. Would you or anyone else here have the information about the crank lock pin? I don't mind purchasing a tool(s) needed from two different sources if needed.

As for what is sugjested by PABLO-UA, I can not put the truck in first gear and hold the brakes on as the engine is currently out of the vehicle and disassembled.

A little update to pass on newly learned information. I was talking to OTC tech support about this locking bolt in question. It is made for FORD by OTC and anyone can oreder it using FORDs number. That is 303-507. Most any parts store handles OTC. It will have to be special ordered. anthony25, you are definately correct in that the bolt IS NOT the same for the ZTEC engine.

One other thing is terminology. This tool is called a crankshaft timing pin.

Thanks to all that offered help in anyway.

This tool in question can be made. I did. Get a bolt that threads into the timing plug hole and weld a piece of proper size stock. Grind it to 2-1/8 inches or 54 mm long.
