I just bought this F-350 a couple weeks ago. Finally got tags on it Tuesday. Well I sold my F-150 and I told the new owner I could deliver. So I loaded it up on the trailer and headed out yesterday. 600 miles round trip. Truck ran excellent. The trailer and truck on it weighed about 7000 lbs. The F-350 hardly knew it was back there.
So go out this morning to move it, and the bendix won't kick out. Starter would spin, just not engage. Luckily I finally got it to catch and it started. I moved it into the garage and had to replace the starter. The old one looked original, so I hope this won't be a re-occuring problem.
Here's the truck and trailer just before we headed out for delivery...
You have the same truck as me, just different color. I have 117,000 miles on mine and never changed the starter. I hope you got her fixed and no more problems.
I didn't see a Ford stamp on it anywhere, but the old one looked original. Or at least it's been in there a while. I was just having nightmares about this old F-250 I used to have with a 460. The starter went out and I put 4 in it before I got one that actually worked...
On a side note, I got 14.1 mpg on the round trip. I'm pretty happy with that.
