forged or pmr

Ok i know that you can remove a plug on the eng. to tell if the rod is forged or pmr. what i wanted to know is there a date or can i use the vin, if not were is the plug at? my truck is 2001 f-250 truck built 02/01 not know eng build date. but will go look when the rain stops.

the cut-off date for the forged rods that has floated around on the net is 10-16-00 (engine build date) so you most likely have the PMR's.

I guess I am good with build date of 8-19-00.

the engine build date will be a sticker on the driver side valve cover...

Just made it! Sept. '00. for motor, truck is 3/01. Best to pull the plug to verify I guess.

You better look at it. Mine has build date on engine of Sep 00 and it has PMRs. Built in Indy plant. Some of the later Mexico built ones have forged though so there is only one way to be sure. There is no known for-sure cutoff date that I have seen.
