Dates for the Pmr vs. forged???
Does anybody have the specific dates for these things? I can not seem to find it anywhere. Also, mine has a build date of 8-2000 so I have the forged right?
Also, I know there are people running 400hp on pmr's but what could you run on the forged rods? Just curious.

10/16/00 is supposed to be "the" day of the switch. People have found forged rods in thier trucks after that date, but not many. Mine was built 09/12/00 and I have verified that it is forged, so it's a safe assumption that yours is as well.
There are precious few making 400 on PMR's, other than the 6.0's. 400 is an all day every day # for a forged motor.

there is an inspection hole on the side of the block. you can remove it to see what you got. i was trying to post a link to detailed instructions but it wont let me. click here then once there click on the di products and tech gallery, then 7.3 inspection hole gallery.

I believe what happened to MR Bass is a failure of a defective rod. He never made over 300hp. It has already been proven PMR can go 400hp. So stay within this range with PMR.
Same as the transmission. Some fail very soon with stock hp if there is a defect. And others seem to last forever even with mild tuning. But again there is a limit to the trans. I don't know what the numbers are but you should stay within the limits.
So from an engineering standpoint, if you know the limits of these components don't go over them. You have to know your stock limits when you want to make more power!
If you want to go over these limits, then you have to beef them up.
