manual transmission?

Hey guys,
a few questions for those of you with manuals:
if you have the 3.55 diff, what is a typical highway rpm?
does it have a granny low?
Is there an auto to manual swap kit readily available? and,
if so, has anyone here done it?
Thanks
Dan

At 70 I'm right around 2k in my 97 (5 spd w/3.55's). 1st is low, but it's not as bad as the old creeper gear on the 70's 4 speeds. Now put it in 4 lo....
Not sure about the auto conv kit...probably have to buy pieces or find a doner truck.

I mainly use 2nd. If stopped on a hill or have the big trailer hooked up (25' goose, 4950 light weight) I'll use 1st to make it easier on the clutch.

auto to manual swap- i checked into that before i rebuilt my E4od. lets just say u'd need (in my opinion) a shop of ur own, or borrow shop space and have a donor to pull in, and swap a part at a time. u'd need drive shaft, move cross members, and more. imo u'd be better off to trade trucks.

The manual trans are ZF-5's. The swap would be pretty easy as long as you find somebody who has an auto and wants a manual. then take the weekend in an equipped garage and swap everything over. Many want to make the swap from auto to manual so you would probably have a few who would be willing. If you want power and speed a Full built auto is the way to go.

I know the PSD has a different bolt in hump. I think its the same for manual and auto's. I do remember the ZF6 is much taller than the ZF5

the auto is easier on the whole truck for jerking one around imo. and totally consistant. no operator error. less tear and wear on drive shaft, rear end, ect ect when u arent grabbing gears.

my 97 turns about 2k at 70mph, and why would you want to go from a stick to an auto?? where's the fun in that?? myself, my brother, and my dad all have 5-speeds. and I wouldn't trade my stick for 2 automatics,
