I'm gonna have to disagree with most and say that a stick is actually faster. In real world situations that is. You can anticipate what you need to do, like when your coming up to a steep hill, or when you need to pass somebody, and get it in the right gear way faster. with an auto you gotta hit the gas and then wait for it to clunk down to a lower gear. Plus there's less power loss thru the drivetrain w/ a stick. Auto may be faster in the quarter but that don't mean much when you're out on the road, and I don't race my truck at the track. To each his own though, either type of transmission works.

If you upgrade valves and computers, an auto can "read your mind" so ive heard. and ya, i always used to prefer stick, now im not sure... but i have an auto, and why fix whats not broken i guess...

Yeah, that's cool. I haven't driven an auto with a chip. I just prefer manuals, learned on one, driven one ever since. If I had a nice auto truck I wouldn't try to change it to a stick though, not worth the effort if you ask me.

It will allways be a debate, but i look at it this way.
With a manual, it will allways be a manual.
With the auto, it will shift automatically or i can shift it manually.
Auto gives me more options and with less work at minimal drivetrain loss.
