Edge Evolution for Gauges/ Dp for Power

So who's doing this? I think I would like the look of the digital reading over gauges. The code reader is also a plus. I'm thinking about running the Edge until I can afford the DP and then use it for a gauge/code reader.
So lets hear from those who are doing this. Good or bad.

Thanks!
Paul

Well for what you pay for the edge just get a single pyro and a DP tuner. The edge's boost readings are not the most accruate from what I have read. Just save up and do it right the first time .

It will work. Several people have done just that in the past.

I like the look of digital gauges too, I had the attitude before I went analog. But they have the flaw of miss reading the boost lower than actual. If the digital gauges would read boost mechanically and not from the pcm then it would be better.

That said now that I have the analog gauges, I love them.

I would say keep the edge for awhile if you already owned one, but I wouldn't suggest buying one if you are going to get the DP tuner. Go with the analog gauges. And save up for an AE for reading codes and doing diagnostics.

edge gauges

That's exactly what I did on my '02 in June of last year. But I fould the #1 power setting (tow) is (at least for the time being) exactly what I was looking for in a good balance of added power and tighter shifting. It may be a while before I go to the DP, which most of the guys here think is the best and as I understand it, you can shift power schemes on the fly. With the edge, you have to stop and reprogram the PCM which takes several minutes. The gauge houwever is nice and clean, I like its appearance and I run it with 4 readings at a time - boost, pyro, trans and oil temp. I've been told that the readings, especially the boost is inaccurate. Mine has never shown higher than 15 lbs.

However the Edge (Evo) pyro has quit on me 2 or 3 times in the last 6 months. It just quits showing a reading while all the other gauges seem to work fine. I have to unplug the unit and set up again before the pyro comes back. I can't explain that but I can tell you I don't like driving without a pyro any more and it's disconcerting.

i just bought a quadzilla recon xzt digital gauge system because its extremely small, you can set warnings for all the parameters (which are EGT, Boost, and Trans. temp), and it was extremely affordable, compared to everything else. i bought it off ebay brand new for $155, which is a lot cheaper than anything else. quadzilla also guarantees it to be just as accurate as other gauges (thats what they say, but i figure the boost will be a little off, but im more worried about egt and trans temp)

It's your call, but analog gauges are far more accurate. Do a search! This topic has been covered quite a few times this month (and constantly).
