I have a 1987 f350 dually, I installed 351w EFI recently. I'm pretty good with electrical and engines, just want to say that I no nothing about transmisions. My problem is that when the auto transmision is put into drive truck moves , but won't come out of 1st. When I put tranny to motor I replaced fluid and filter, I do not have vac modulator hooked up yet. I've looked thru some threads and keep seeing the words kick down lever what is this and what does it do. I have a huge lack of tranny knowledge sorry! Could some tell me what tranny and rearend I have in this truck? c6? w/dana?
If you read this post, I was asking about what type of transmission and rear end I have in my truck. I also asked what the kick down rod did, also I should have asked where it was located since the only thing that I connected to my tranny was the shift linkage. Again, if I was a familiar with transmissions I would not be asking.
If you count the trans pan bolts the C6 has 17 bolts. The E40D has 20 and the C4 and C5's both had 11. Other than that I can't really tell you how else to find out. Good luck.
i don't want to sound like an a%% but get a manual it will have pictures of this stuff the efi engines use a throttle valve cable and a c6 needs a vacuum modulator to up shift correctly was your f350 originally a carburated unit? you might be mixing apples and oranges
