Today I went to pull out on the road and the tranny acted like it dropped into first then when I stopped and shifted it to park and put it back in drive it would not engage in any gear it will slowwly creep forword , anyway i think it is toast does anyone have any suggestions on what to do the truck is a 97 powerstroke and it has a 173000 miles on it the tranny was rebuilt at 98000 i dont pull any thing with it besides boat. If i keep the truck i would like to build it good where it will not blow again any suggestions on where the best is thanks Shawn
A local tranny shop near me just rebuilt mine (123,00) for 2,000 on the nose. New converter, all new internals with shift kit in valve body. They also did all the updates on it for better fluid flow. I would not get a remanufactered one IMO.
BTS and ATS trannies are extremely bullet proof. Check out their websites and feel free to give 'em a call. they love to brag about how long their trannies last. On a side note, I know that ATS has 150,000 mile warranty on their trannies. good luck and happy hunting!

why do you say not to get a remanufactered one if they are giving a 3 year warranty and the best I can get for a rebuild is 1 year what are the web sites for the bts and other after market trannys thanks for the info Shawn
I just had the EOD4 on my 97 rebuilt (82000). The shop beefed it up to make it stouter. Ran $2500 + $500 for a superchip tuner. Runs good now and came with an 18000 mile or 18 month warranty. But I wasn't able to find a beefed up rebuilt or I would have had my kid put one in for me. The EOD4 is just to puny for a PSD. I've talked to some guys and they have had nothing but problems with them. Hope mine holds up now.
