i just picked up a hypertech power programmer III off a buddy for $75 which he owed me for a toolbox so i basically got it free. he bought it off ebay and has a 2004 v10 manual tranny and this one is for a 2000-2002 v10 which he didnt know till he got it. nonetheless im going to try it out next week, anybody have experience with these tuners ? should i try the 87 octane tune or 93 octane tune? i dont think im going to play with the shiftpoints as i dont want to mess my tranny up .
hey, i have one on my '99 ,i have only used the 87 oc. to ceep for 93. the shift points adj. is cool, if you are towing move them up[more rpms before shift] if you are looking for mpgs go down[shifts sooner] anyway, gives some power but not gobs ,bseg barry
you don't necissarily need to change your shift points if you're running stock tires, but definitely turn the shift pressures up if that hypertech unit does so. i run the 91 octane tune on my superchips tuner on my V8, and have been running mid-grade gas (89) for months with no problems, since it's the same price as 87 at many stations around here.
I have a Hypertech for my truck and i'm an Really happy with it. The Dyno results for your truck say that you'll get a 24 ft.lbs. at 1200 rpm, that sounds really sweet.
I've got the power programmer III as well. I mainly bought it to correct my speedo
BUT since it has other features, i took advantage of them too. Works great.
