I was told about using used ATF at a 1 to 1 ratio with diesel. If I could cut my fuel bill by half I in. Any body doing this? Would it hurt anything? Thanks
Don't think that is a good idea. I used to put 1 gallon of ATF to a hundred gallons of fuel in my motor home at an old truckers advice. But have quit doing even that. Just read a thread here in the last few days discussing the use of ATF in lieu of other additive's but most replies were negative about it.

I don't see how adding 15 gallons of ATF to 15 gallons of diesel is going to save you money.. ( 1 to 1 ratio).. ATF is pricey per gallon..unless you are stealing it..lol... I would suggest just using a couple of gallons of biodiesel per tank full.. It is a great additive..
I think he means old, used ATF. thats what most people who bring up this topic are talking about. If your gonna do it, dont forget to filter it!
My question would be,
How would you clean the old ATF of all the metal that is floating around in the stuff?? Run it thru a 2 micron filter and then use it. Then where would you save money at?? The cost of the filters and the pumping system...
You would be money ahead to build your self a bio diesel processing plant and use bio diesel. That's my plan...
Sounds like a huge PITA to me and I'm as poor as a church mouse with nothing but time on my hands. I would not even bother with this if someone were to deliver the ATF to my doorstep. I want some partners to get into a good bio system with me. With all the spare time I have I could keep 3 or 4 of our trucks going all of the time.
I've several members here as near neighbor's but they do not seem interested in it. I even have a farm in the area where it could be set up at. Does not belong to me, but he's an old fellow that is a real good man.

If Charlotte-Fairbanks-Bflo were a lot closer to idaho I would be there as I too have lots of free time. As for PITA they can take a flying fu off a clif
