I've never heard of Bullydog making a chip or tuner for OBS trucks. Checked their website still couldn't find one. Original post sorta trashed you a bit. But apparently they do exist still haven't seen them anywhere...
Ya found them here too http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_753692_-1_10373
Guess I need to do more research
My .02
Do DP or TW
Bottom line
I have TS now, going to TW for reburns. If you like that style go for it.
I'd call both guys, talk to them. Go from there. Tony and Jody are both great to talk to
FWIW i have a friend who had a TS on his 99 and it blew his computer. he didnt like it. he threw it in the glove box! i know several people who say TS in a no no, but i dont have a clue first-hand
I have heard alot more horror stories about programmers gone bad over a physical chip. Follow the install instuctions and you'll never have a problem. And no the flipping of programs don't hurt anything. Proably best not to switch under heavy load though.....???
I called both before I bought my first chip. Both are stand up guys and make real good programs. Unless your running a high hp truck and putting it on the dyno you proably could'nt tell much difference between a TW chip and DP tuned chip. I have bought 2 chips from Tony and he has treated me real good!
does anybody run the "economy tunes" and if so how much more economy do you get running that setting as compared to the "street" setting or "race setting?
On my edge, the eco tune is crap. I get the best mileage period on the HIGH tune. I got 1000 degrees though pulling 9500 lbs today at 72 mph. Does that sound bad or not???
let me rephrase that, i dont care for the high idle or valet functions, all i want is tunes,
what is the best route to get?
i definatly want a "tow tune", a "most of the time tune" and a "crazy tune"
i dont want my "most of the time tune" to drop my horsepower off fro what i am used to now. does the econo tune do this or is it something good to get? i also want to be able to throw some smoke (doesnt haev to go fast) is the "smoke tune" worth getting or is the "crazy tune" (dp calls it 140 extreme) (tw calls it extreme)
Well, I don't tow, but the settings I use on my TS are High-idle, 75, 100, 140. Thats about it. I don't tow much, so may want to do 50, 100, 140. like todd said, the 140 is more like 110 ish though although, if your gonna use 100, might as well turn it all the way up... so I guess it's up to you.
The most you can expect out of stock injectors is about 60 hp. Ya just cant get enough fuel through the stock squirters for any more. Most of the higher hp claims are for the superduties or a Cali/split shot injectored OBS.
Joe, if you will allow me too then i will make your choice ever so much even harder on you with the switch thing. call Jody and tell him what switch you want, if you want the rotary **** then he will hook you up. He just doesn't advertise them on his website, but you CAN get a rotary **** from him also so don't fret about the switch. this is a little different being as cody's truck has aftermarket injectors, but cody's truck runs AWESOME with Jody's programs. i have never ridden in a TW tuned truck though. Oh yeah and i think the rotary **** is like 12 bucks compared to the 45 the F5 switch cost.
