Mine didn`t explode but it still made a mess with battery acid everywhere, a small leak in the rad.....Definitely learned the hard way what a lose battery can do....
great looking truck snowking some day mine will look the same.was your chrome banged up much. mine is i dont know if there is a way to fix it or not .need a third truck for more parts
If it`s really flattened out it takes alot more patience. It`ll come ok if you take your time, as long as there aren`t any sharp creases or kinks.

The trim on your parts truck ain't too bad. Oh make sure you do NOT loose those signal lights on the front fenders. They were on Mercury trucks for 2or3 years nobody makes repos lights from a 48-50 Ford truck do not fit. and mine rusted out on my 49, they look like they were prone to rusting/breaking.

ya the trim is alittle better on the parts truck but still has a few dings in them.
i'm going to be using the marker lights on my 50 as they are shoot except for the crome. the rest of the lights are broken/rusted out
