STGs Minions general purpose thread
going for my mech enginerring degree. something ive always wanted to do and hopefully ill get the job i want eventually. would be nice to say i was the one who designed the new f series. who knows maybe someday we can all dream right.
lol i almost changed my mind then i realized something. even if this doesnt get me the job i want its realy cool stuff to learn and it helps when building a suspention setup knowing how to correctly align things and what metals and such can do. since i have a ton of money i can only use on school i might do structeral once im done with mechanical but thats down the road so we will see what happens.

How far through are you?

Well I'm at a community college 2 year program (4 semseter) and then I'm supposed to transfer to a university to finish up (2-3 more years, depending on classes).
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty bored with the engineering thing... I might do economics/business or something similar.
Do you know how to find an equation of a plane perpendicular to r(t)= t^2i + 3tj - t^2k at t=1? Do I take the normal vector?

) Stick it out. I have done Business too... and it is important as well, but when it comes to finding a job (and $$$ if you are interested in it... I have mates that as grads were earning $135k+)Worst case scenario you never use it, but hey its handy having it there as back ground info

Since the plane is perpendicular to r(t)= t^2i + 3tj - t^2k, r(t) is the normal vector of the plane.
With the normal vector of the plane and a point P(1,3,1) in the plane we can write the equation of the plane. Remember, the normal vector is orthogonal to any vector that lies in the plane. Define an arbitrary point R(x,y,z) that lies in the plane. Then the vector R lies in the plane.
r(t) • PR = 0
r(t) • R - P = 0
I will let you go from there

That better?

Wow, im going to school to be a electrical technician. Already got a job offer and ive been in school for 3 months, 6 months to go and im off to work. There going to start me out at 92k a year, not bad for 9 months of schooling. Maybe then i could afford to build my truck as it should be.
