I got my dieselsit 203 stat in today. I also replaced the housing while I was at it. While I had some room to work down there I finally was able to pull the sender plug for my water temp gauge. I ended up using the square end of a tap bit to pull it out.
The heat is intense now, I like it. The cab gets warm much quicker now. Heres a pic:
I have my new stat and housing from Deiselsite sitting in boxes in my gargage...
I hope to see the same gauge results tommorrow. Notice anything performance wise?
I did think about that when I was installing the stat. My trans already runs hot in the summer months. I need a bigger cooler on it badly. Thats my next mod on the list.
all right, now my curiosity is peaked, our trans fluid runs in the radiator and then through the trans cooler? and how do we bypass it? does that apply to the 03 bill ?
yes our trans coolers go thru the in rad cooler than to the air to oil then back to the trans. The 03 I am not sure. at some point they quit the in rad coolers. to bypass the in rad cooler just take out the lines and cap the holes. Run whatever hose is needed to couple the lines back together.
Well I am going to have to take a look at that, so I can assume that if I see the lines enter and exit the base of the radiator that it has a fluid to fluid cooling ?
Yup!
You guy's are correct. Thing is no 2 trucks are used the same.
Along with the trans. Its just something to watch for come spring time.
I remove in summer (aver 20* cooler). Reinstall for winter. I have transfer
shutoff valves.
I did not see any change in my tranny temp today after installing the 203* t-stat. I will have to look at the configuration tommorow. I did notice a nice increase in water/coolant temp.. TRG...203* added to sig.
I think the real boost with the 203 comes when the old thermostat is so worn out that it isn't working properly. Mine was so shot that the EOT never got past 155-160, so the PCM wasn't sending the right tuning info to the engine and it was running crappy from 1000 to 2000 rpms. When I put the 203 in, it was like buying a new truck. It accelerates smoothly and with power through those ranges now, even without downshifting.
