I just installed the Dieselsite Coolant bypass filter last Friday. I noticed after a couple of days it was leaking a little; just a few water spots on the filter and below on the fan, etc. I took the filter off and retightened it, hand tight and about 1/2 turn or so with a filter wrench. It is still leaking a little bit. Anyone else experienced this?
Not I. Make sure the hose clamps at the filter housing are tight. It could be possible some coolant is leaking past one of the clamp fittings and flowing down onto the filter. The only thing I can think of unless the filter gasket is cut.
Also, did you use pipe tape on the filter housing fittings? If not, that could be source of your leakage.

The hose and clamps are fine. I used white plumbers tape on all the fittings and they are holding up just fine. It is definitley leaking from the filter. Maybe I should just get a new one since they aren't too expensive. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks for the reply.
did you lube the gasket before installing the filter? (very important the 1st time...)
Yes, I turned it a little more with the filter wrench and it's ok now. I was a little nervous that I might "overtighten" the filter that I didn't tighten it quite enough. Won't do that again. Thank you for all the replies everyone.
After contact you can get a full turn almost on these filters without hurting them.
Thanks for the reply, next time I will know better. I remember on my old '95 7.3L I would hand tighten the oil filter then give it about a half turn with the wrench and all was good.
