My 95 F150 302 has developed an engine coolant leak. It is directly behind the water pump on the driver side. It is basically between the water pump and the distrubutor. I can never see it happen, but sometime after the truck sits for a while the green liquid is present. The little puddle is on top of the driver side head. It also runs down the front of the engine block right next to the oil filter and oil pressure sensor. There is not any water in the oil or oil in the water. I have checked that several times. I can't figure out what exactly is leaking. Has any body had this problem before? Any input is appreciated. I also have a picture of it, but can not find a way to add that to my message. If someone knows how to do that please tell. Thanks
There are floresent dyes that can be added to the system for just these kind of leaks. You can't see the dye unless you shine a black-lite on it. Most shops can do this for you. The dye leaves a nice trail you can follow to the source. Good luck.
If it's leaking from the water pump, you need a new water pump. I would change it NOW before the leak suddenly gets worse. That always seems to happen while you're driving. More people have overheated engines and destroyed them this way than any other way.
I'm still not sure where it is actually leaking from. It leaks about a glass or fliud a day. There doesn't seem to really bo much if any on the timing chain cover. It is almost all on the head on the driver side right in front of the distributor. I don't think it is the throttle body lines or thermostat housing. I had the t-stat leak before and all of the fluid was on the passenger side of the engine. I really think it may be the water pump, but am not sure. I suppose it could be the timing chain cover, but that should cause there to be water in the oil, which there is not any. I really don't want to replace that water pump again, especially if it is not the culprit. Its only about 6 months old. I have a picture if someone can tell me how to add it to a post. I'm puzzled!

Could it be a hose and cheap clamp,I fixed my radiator and new pump that was leaking. I still had a leak because i could smell it when i shut it off hot. It turnied out to be a hose with the double wire type factory clamp. I put a new clamp on it and cured it. Also the through bolts to the water pump sometimes need to just be snuged up a bit.

Check all the hoses in that area. There are hose connections to the intake manifold, bypass hose, upper radiator hose, etc. Also check the thermostat housing for leaks. Any of these items will leave a puddle on top of the motor in that area fooling you into thinking it's the water pump or worse.
Let the truck cool and clean off all evidence of coolant. Start the engine an check for coolant before moving the truck...use a flashlight to see in the crevices. Once warm shut the engine down, now go over each hose and connection with your hand lightly squeezing and twisting on the hose and connections...
