I went to dinner with my girl tonight, and when we were walking back to the truck, she noticed there was something that had leaked onto the frame and front suspension on the front driver side. It was dark, so it was hard to tell what it was. It seemed like it may be coolant. I popped the hood, and saw that whatever it was has covered a lot of parts on the driver side. Could this be the dreaded head gasket? The truck has been runnin fine, so I'm not sure what it could be. The coolant expansion chamber seemed like it was a little low, but not a whole lot.
Could also be a leaking hose. Also the cap could be loose.. Do not panic yet!
yea, I'm a little nervous hahaha. I'm going to take a better look tomorrow in the daylight. It did seemed like it may have come from the cap. At my last diesel class, the instructor did a coolant test, and hopefully he didn't put the cap on right.
yea, that's what i was hoping. I was thinking about goin to the dealer for a quick checkup, but my SCT is in the process of a warranty return, so I can't return the truck to stock........
I didnt have any performance loss when my headgaskets blew. They were bad for a couple months before i bit the bullet and installed studs.
Fear not Tippmann, if your dealer does it under warranty, buy the studs, egr delete pipe, and sleep well. I have had the ultra comp since I got the studs and my truck hasn't puked once. By the way, I found them cheap at northernautoparts.com.
I cleaned my air filter once & forgot to hook up the hose back to the bottle and drove around a few miles, got scared when opened the hood and there was coolant everywhere!

How did you tell it was headgasket w/ out having any performance issues?
I had hardly any coolant in the degas bottle, there was dried coolant all over the engine around the degas bottle, coolant had even made its way down the block and onto the radius arm. This is all on the driverside. My driverside head had to be replaced.
That is the beauty of these trucks, even with blown h/g's they will still get you home.
For a total of 536.99 I had the studs done under warranty and now I am not limited by my heads on how much power I can make. It was probably the best money spent on my truck. And it only took them 3 days.
how hard is it to get the dealer to put the studs in?
My dealer didnt have a problem with it. They also replaced my egr cooler and oil cooler and stc fittings on the hpop. I even got the tech to take a couple pics with the cab lifted.
