If your gaskets infact have to be changed.. Most dealers won't bicker too much if you request ARP Studs.. As grumpy as they can be, 90% of the dealers do know the bolts aren't the greatest, even in stock mode.. I've met and talked to quite a bit of Service Managers around Texas.. Just from truck shows and so fourth.. Lot of them have told me that if a customer needs their heads removed and gaskets replaced.. If it falls under warranty as a problem not related to tuner, then they will offer to put ARP Studs in if the customer purchases them.
So if you take it in and they say the gaskets need replaced, just ask them if you can bring them ARP Studs and have those put in instead of TTY bolts.. Most will say sure.. Unless you get those real GRUMPY ones LOL
In Henderson NV at Ford Country, out of curiosity, I asked the Service Writer if they would install ARP Studs and he said it was up to the mechanic. The mechanic said yes. Unfortunatly I didn't have the cash right then so I stayed with the stock bolts.

Hehe.. If you ever want some real good help on parts.. Go see my boy Andy at Gaudin Ford in Vegas.. He's mah buddy, where I get most of my factory parts
I didnt have any performance loss when my headgaskets blew. They were bad for a couple months before i bit the bullet and installed studs.
Fear not Tippmann, if your dealer does it under warranty, buy the studs, egr delete pipe, and sleep well. I have had the ultra comp since I got the studs and my truck hasn't puked once. By the way, I found them cheap at northernautoparts.com.
man this really sucks hahaha, guess only thing i can do now is wait for my livewire to come back from SCT, return the truck to stock, go to the dealer and hope they don't find out i've used a tuner and do it under warranty and put studs in for me. All of that seems like a big IF to me hahaha.

Lesson #1
NEVER.. EVER.. send a tuner back without flashing to stock unless the tuner is completely DOA LOL
say dealer says no go bc i've used a tuner, what's the rough estimate cost to have it fixed and studs put in? (not includin the cost of the studs themselves)
I told my dealer over the phone my h/g's had blown and it seems like they took my word for it. They made an appointment and and said they would do the studs.
The flash tuners cannot be detected at dealers when the truck is set back to stock.
Theoretically they can't tell if you used a tuner.. Only way they would know is by fuel pattern on the cylinders.. None of matt's Stud-Safe files have that timing set to set a different blast pattern..
Only other way they could confirm is to send your PCM to Ford Engineering to check the CAM track.. Nobody is going to do that.. I've never in my life heard of a dealer going that far.. Normally they like to scare the crap out of you by saying "Oh it was a tuner" even tho you could be Joe Blow with no tuner, havent a clue what it is..

As Storm mentioned, there is a strong likelihood you won't be able to return your truck to stock. If SCT swapped out, or cleared your unit, you'll be stuck with the code that's in the ECM.
My dealer total of new egr cooler, oil cooler, head stud intall, new driverside head, and new stc fittings on the hpop and all the other little stuff that goes along with it was 5061.24 plus the price of studs.

No your fine! You got the stock file on your computer.. I store mine as well on my desktop.. So your cool.. I meant the whole if you gotta take it in while your SCT is gone..
