Wow! what a genius you are. I never would have thought to rig up a leaf spring lubricating system on my truck. My hats off to ya! (see, now you don't have to fix it for along time....the leak is actually a good thing...lol)
I was looking at some old, factory produced lubrication literature that shows lubricationg the leaf springs with a penetrating oil every (not sure of interval) #miles. Like every 3000 miles, lube all of the chassis grease fittings and hit the springs with oil. What a mess that's likely to be.
It's every 1,000 miles! Nowadays people put that much on in a month (on a daily driver)! I'm sure back then it was probably every 3 months, but no question the springs need it. Old crankcase oil works well, just slather it on regularly. I was dismayed how dry my shackles were.

It's gonna be messy! I guess it's about that time for me. And I'm probably 3 or 4 times behind. I put on about 150 miles per week, average, and have done several thousand since my last chassis greasing. I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend!
