i'd sure love to try the conversion if i had a hand on one of those engines... i think it'd be a challenge, but it they could do it... nothing but time...
Cool. I wish they had a little more info on it too. Im not familiar with that particular cummins but if it was decent like the 5.9 that would be great. Specially getting that kind of mileage!
definately interesting. wonder what that would cost all inclusive?? there'd be a pile of electronics to change, looks like they figured some way to use the 4rw70 or whatever the original tranny is...
The cost of the cummins conversion would buy alot of gas, it would be a long time for pay back. I also wonder how long the front syspension could carry the extra weight.
Well the cost of the conversion might not be too bad. You could buy a truck with a screwed engine for cheap then do the swap. That or get a 4.2 liter with alot of km that usually sells for cheap, or even sell the engine thats in it to recover some costs.
The weight of the cummins is 750 lbs, the weight of a 4.6, from what i found, can be 500-600 lbs, so its a safe bet to say the cummins is approx 200 lbs heavier. It wouldnt take much to heavy that suspension up a little to accomidate the weight.
Hell just ride in it alone without the woman or kids and youd be fine haha.
i could see that being a factor. i think its a good idea what Ford has done for '09, keeping the 2v 4.6 as the base, 3v as the middle class, and the 5.4 as the top dog.
hey prep, offtopic, but what style connector is on the boat trailer??
