I'm going to put a 2000 Lightning engine/transmission in my 56 but I'm a ways off and don't have any photos to share. Look at the gallery for Keith56_cruz_cab. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/m..._cruz_cab.html
There are some others on FTE running Mod motors but they don't come to the surface of my feeble mind at this time.
Hey man, Tacson has a buddy who has a Mod Motor in his truck, you might PM him and ask him? He posted in a recent thread on what kind of gas mileage your truck gets? It looked real good in pics and Tacson said it was nice.
I have a few pics from a show in NM a few years ago where a guy put a cobra 4.6L in a 46ish Ford truck. It fit in there barely, he also used the Stang tranny and gauge cluster and I am sure the ECU. I know Ford is working on a kit for the 3V Throttle by wire engines to use them as a crate engine and KarKraft, http://www.karkraft.com/, is making Carb intakes for Mod motors which would make them a lot easier to swap into older vehicles.
Ya know ??? That Grabber Blue Motor is just awesome.
I'm too set in my ways and not smart enough to do it, but the 5.4 in my Lariat is a great engine hooked to a decent OD trans. I think it would make a great swap.
Tacson thnx. I figured that the SOHC 4.6 would fit with stock inner fenders. And Havi, I do like the blue DOHC in the gray 55. Do you know if they used the stock inners or fabbed custom ones like on the AirRide truck?
I have a 4.6 in my 48 F-1 out of a 1995 T-bird. Also have the 4R70w transmission from same car. Only had 98K on car and was well taken care of. Used front IFS and modified frame to accept all of the front end with rack and pinion power steering and front disc brakes. Still in process of getting everything ready to paint and assemble truck. Used wiring harness I bought with all connectors for engine and transmission. I used computer from the same car.
