For some reason I am having a hard time locating the right cable. I need a positive battery cable assembly for a 94 F150, 5.0, auto, 4x4. This is a multi cable unit that goes from the battery, thru the solenoid on the fender sidewall and then to the starter. At the solenoid it has the plastic covered Y connector that connects to both sides of the solenoid. Does anybody have a part number for this cable or possibly a link to an online source? Thanks.
I got a brand new motorcraft replacement from Oreilly's Autoparts. I couldn't find one anywhere else. All the other parts stores had battery cable repair kits and universal stuff.
Oreilly was the first place i called. He said he had it. When I ran the part number he gave me it came out to a single piece battery cable. He wanted about $8 for it. I said uh buddy that ain't it.
I made my own.. Can buy a 48-56"( can't remember what size exactly), cable with a battery end and eye end. I had soem 2g wire laying around from battery re-locates for the power wire from battery to stater relay. But you can buy a 15" 4g wire with 2 eyelets for the battery to relay. Then you can either cut the factory cable so that the little wire is still connected to relay and starter, or make a new on. I made one with 10g wire with a female spade(starter side) and and eyelet for relay side. Sounds more confusing than it is. I wil get some pictures posted...
Bought an exact replacement at Autozone for $49.95. Top quality all the way. My son and I replaced our completely corroded cable two weeks ago. You can order online if you do not have a store locally. It was a perfect fit. It is a little tricky down by the starter where you attach the cable to the side of the engine with a small bracket. Close working area. Autozone also has just a replacement if the top part of your cable is corroded away where you only replace that section and use the lower sections that you already have. This would save time. Check their website and just enter the information about your truck. 09579 is the part number that worked for me from a company called Lynx. Good Luck and hope you live where it is warm.
