CCV Box

This problem of mine has needed some attention for months now but I keep forgeting about.

There are two rubber orings that go between the valve cover and the CCV "box" on the driverside VC. I took this box off when I did my injectors, but the rings didn't see properly. Actually, the don't appear to be doing anything anymore. I tried to fit the rings back in the groove but they are not even close to being able to stay in there. Any ideas on what size these rings are? Or the best way to fix this is? I'm finally started to get the oil residue of death on my vc.

I found the rings to be kinda odd so I just bought new ones from the dealer. I don't recall how much they were but they were not very much.

Once the oil gets to them they seem to grow. I used some ATV just on the top side (Against the house) when I replaced them.

Can I just put a reg o-ring in there? Find one the fits in that groove? I doubt that its a "special" o-ring.

Yeah mine grew too when I took it off! I ended up cutting a bit out of the o ring to make it fit again then used some atv and it works fine

Bet you could use a regular o ring it would have to be thick though I think the o ring groove where it seats on the filter housing is deep

Regular o-ring will work great!! about 5 times cheaper than Ford non oil resistant o-rings!! Second most stupid thing after the EBPV!

I had had a garden sprayer rebuild kit laying arround that had some o rings in it the right size. Im thinking that they are not rubber either, garden sprayer=chemical resistant. I could be wrong about that but they were blue and seemed to be harder than the ones I removed, teflon maybe?

Probably Silicon if blue, thing about getting the Nitrile rings is you won't get the swell from the oil. Avialable at NAPA!
