well, its time i get off my butt and instead of trying to fix whats not broke, time to fix what i been ignoring. i have a fuel leak in the valley. seems to be on both sides of the pump. its puddled up down in there and coming down back of engine. whats some common leaky spots? i hope its not the pump.
Get a GOOD flashlight and a swivel, telescoping mirror and a whole bunch of paper towels and if your in the area of TJ you might want to wear your mittens, poke, poke. LOL
leak is apparently coming from a radiator clamp in between the fliter housing, and the fuel pump. it was real loose, but i still dont have it fixed although some tighter thanks to a screw driver, but needs a socket on it to tighten it enough. i had all work come to a SKREECHING hault when i sliced my finger open and has to go get stitches. didnt feel much, because i hit a nerve and almost cut it in half. it made me almost pass out because of the numbness and bleeding lol. normally stuff dont bother me i washed it and everything, but when the nurse and then the doctor started in on it it made me get clammy and my lips turned white, and my skin got pale, and all that. PLUS, i have a virus. so, i'm not feeling too great lol.
LOL. radiator clamps arent stock down there are they? i believe i am gonna have to pull the housing. lets see.... remove FPR and then unplug housing and pull the 4 bolts AFTER draining housing. is that right?
Do you mean hose clamps? yes there are hose clamps stock down on those hoses. Also usually I just cut the hoses if the housing is coming out. new hoses are cheap and easier to work with going back together.
ya, like on radiator hoses. i figured it came out with the kind you squeeze and it released them. is my process on the housing correct? what size are the bolts?
To remove the housing no need to remove the FPR. get the return hose off the FPR, loosen the two hoses going to the housing from the pump. then there is one large connector that is for the housing electrical and the IPR plug. Unplug the IPR and unplug the large plug. then there are 2 13mm bolts that hold the housing down. There is also a hose down on the bottom for the fuel drain. its not clamped but it is hard to get hooked back up.
k. thanks. i'll probablt not tackle that till my fAnger gets a lil healed up lol. i helped a guy from church move tonight and bout busted it open again
oh and the new hose I find it easier to buy the precut hose from Ford cause it the right length and straight. hose off a reel is curved and has to be cut to length. plus you need both 3/8 and 5/16. But I have no idea how long for each. they are about 3 inch long each.
