85 f250 rear axle code translation

I've got an 85 f250 6.9L deisel with the sterling 10.25 full floater rear axle, and am trying to figure out what gears are in it (and if it's limite slip) from the axle code (33) on the door tag. anyone have a chart? there is no tag on the diff cover, and I couldn't find any markings on the axle tube.
I can drag it out of the weeds, jack it up and count rotations, but it's cold and I was hoping not to have to work that hard.

My info says a 33 is a Dana 3.54 to 1 rearend, not a sterling. If you have a drain/fill plug in the rear cover, you have a Dana. If not, the rearend may have been swapped.

I'll double check. pretty sure it didn't have the drain plug. But I wasn't really looking for that.
Thanks for the info.

It don't believe it would be a 8.8 in that truck.

What's your axle code say?

Do you have the large black piece with the little bolts sticking out of the center of the wheel in the rear?

Where is your drain plug?

F250 Rear axle 2WD

Thanks for the response

I had a look underneath , and can confirm following ;

It does have the black wheel with bolts coming through the ( single ) rear wheel

Cannot read axle code - rusty

There appears to be a kind of bolt on top of diff. There are 12 bolts holding the diff cover

Now the parts supplier ( here in UK ) wants to know if the axle is a Semi or full floater.....

Any ideas - purrlease , as we say in London ?

The AXLE code will be found on the white Certification Label that is glued to the B pillar (door post).

data sticker

If only life was so simple - have owned this truck for 18 years here in the UK... alas the data sticker on the B Post has been covered over by a respray some time ago.

Any way of telling just by looking if this is a full or semi floating rear axle ?

If you have the round thing sticking out with the 8 bolts holding the axle on, that is a full-floater and would look similar to this:

Yes, the thing sticking out of the rear wheel with the little bolts makes it a full-floating axle, and since you didn't say anything about a oil plug in the rear cover, then it's a Ford/Sterling rear, not a Dana.

F250 Rear axle 2WD

Thanks for replies

But I did say in an earlier reply that there is a kind of bolt on top of the rear differential ?

Any other markers for that - for example what would make it a ' semi floater ' ?
