Why is it so hard for you to say that a 6 cylinder will possibly out pull your SBC?
Maby your not beating your chest about ford rules chevy rules BLAH BLAH BLAH but you are saying that its impossible for a 6 cyl to out pull your V8 unless you bring the Cummins into with it is only a 6 cyl and is considered the best Diesel for medium duty trucks available.
KCB37, I agree. I have owned all 3 major makers, in cars trucks and a few suvs, they all have there pros and cons. The best I have ever owned and still do is a 81 toyota 4x4 with a 22r and 4 speed. not a power house but a reliable truck that I beat the crap out of on a regular basis. I perfer Chevy because I was raised on them and my family sweers by them but I do own 2 fords, an F150 and a F250 diesel. Its all prefence and all the narrow minded folks stick to the "Ford rules!" or the "Chevy rules!" crap.
The 300 is a good motor but I personaly think yall put too much faith in it. ANY person who knew what they were doing could out pull someone with a heavyer truck with more torque or lower gears. 300 has good torque at idle but peters off real quick and your not gonna hook up to someone and try to pull them at 800-1000 rps. Hooking up trucks like that isnt a good way to judge the harder pulling truck cause all you have to do is stab the brakes and let them get there tires spining and them ease on the gas and nail it when you let off the brakes. Its easy to pull someone with there tires spinning. I have a 2001 Z71 Xtra cab and there is no way a 6 banger is going to pull it, I may be wrong but I dont see it happening.
The 5.3 are in the late 99s and up. and there 329 ci not 327. everyone thinks its the old 327 brought back but its not, its a completely different motor, different, internals, block, heads, intake everything.
Hey when my toyota had 33s on it I pulled a dodge 3500 DRW out of a ditch on a dirt road, he had a 5th wheel trailer full of shingles and my little yota pulled it out without using the winch. He helped though but still I was shocked.
Well there the 5.3 closest thing to 327 329 same **** different pile lol
I'll put my .02 in one last time-I currently own a 4.9-a 302-351-the 4.9 is a 95e250 work van loaded to the hilt-guys laugh at me when they see the leaf spring arched the wrong way-there is no way I would hook that van to either one of the ford pick ups I own-for a pull off-the torque just ain't there-the closest I think may have a chance is the 4x4 5.8-locked in-the chevy i had 327 vette heads 365 hp-would not pull it because it had no traction-and my road runner 383-would be the same way-4.9 torque is hard to beat-trans went on fritz-drove 6 months no 1st gear-loaded-stop and go up hills back alleys-my 302 or 5.8 i am sure would not make it!!! now I can get my hands on a caterpiller d-9 if some one wants to have a pull off I think everybody gets the point???? is it really worth it???-having a pi**ing contest?? not a sermon-just a thought..
Well then name one 6 cyl that will pull other than the cummins. none. the 300 is a good motor, I said it so pull ur panties out dude, its just not what its cracked up to be (key words here so pay close attention) TO ME! Just not enough ***. My opinion though. Hey opinions are like butt holes, everyone has em and most of em stink! People think that just because you voice your opinion and they dont agree then your wrong because thats not the way they see it. I could think ist a nice day and someone else could say its too hot. opinion. opinion. thats it opinion. say it with me O...P...I...N...I...O...N. Its not fighting its stating opinions. Yall take being a smart *** way too personal. Hey if your ever down my way then we can hook em up and see how bad that 300 realy is. maybe I will hook it up with the neighbors boys big wheel
My words of wisdom for the day.
"Everybody likes a little *** every now and then but no body likes a smart all!"
uh u guys i started this post saying i pulled a 5.7 which i meant a 5.3 i kno a big reason is because my friends a spoiled ******* he had an auto i had a manual but a lot of it depends on the driver i kno one thing that isnt an opinion the 300 can take a hell of a lot more of a beating than any newer truck except diesel

Exactly. There is *ALWAYS* something bigger and badder.
...I'll take on your Cat with my dad's Cat I6. :P Muhaha!
I never seen a man burn all 8 tires on a big rig before untill I seen my dad do it. My dad is nuts! But I love the man anyway.
Grey89F250, never did I say that my truck was the best, I dont see a 6 banger 300 out pulling it, pulling a trailer that is. now a 5.9 cummins will pull it all over the green earth.
Yea this is a ford site and I am proud to own 2 ford, also proud to own 1 chevy and a toyota, and if I come across a deal on a dodge with the cummins then I will be a proud owner of a dodge also.
Just dont get mad when I pull up to yall at a red light and my Chevy is loaded with 4 4wheelers, a tent and camping gear, 2 coolers full of beer loaded on a car trailer, fishing poles hanging out the bed and 4 SOB's int the truck and I pull away and leave that little 300 while you are looking for "another gear" cause it runs out of steam at 1200 rpms. Then I wont get mad when Im on the interstate and people are honking and blowing there horn at me because I cant get above 45 on the hills and cant find a "low enough gear" when Im in my toyota.
That aught to start the fire.....
Why are you on a Ford Truck site if your just going to talk about your Chevy? Your just asking for trouble..
You may b able to outpull a ford, but you never OUTLAST a Ford, plain and simple. My Dad had a 300 I6 in his 86 bronco. Put 250,000 miles on it in 10 years when he traded it in. He never had to do any major maintence. Engine block was never taken apart or anything.
You dont hear this about chevy, only exception is MAYBE the 350, but evn the 302 blows away the 350, seen it and done it!
power questions?? from a different post
" i have a 92 f150 with a 302 in it, and im about to put a 4 in lift on my truck. i know i am going to lose a lot of power when i do this. " -- That's why my 4.9 has great pulling power it's low to the ground!! ha-ha-ha!!!

Same. Although I am tempted to lift it. Ultimately I might lift the truck just a few inches to fit bigger tires. But that depends.
Hey, why exactly does a truck lose power when lifted? I would think straight off the line the truck would still have a lot of torque to throw around. I can see how driving on the highway pulling a load could be a pain, but even then..?
that was why I re posted what the guy said-this was the joke forum posts right???he must be a young guy or just hates to type-I see what he was trying to say- if you lift it and install larger tires-it will decrease the out of hole torque-unless you install larger gear ratio-and my 4.9 in my e250 is sagging bad so she is super strong??? hey just jokes--jokes forum!!!I tried to not post on this subject- but it' like a bad car wreck you just gotta look!!

Because I own 2 fords. didnt you read before posting a smart *** coment. Im not bashing fords just offering my opinion, Like I said earlier in the post they all have there pros and cons but whatever man, Your going to take it how you want it. As for outlasting.........OK.
