I wouldn't be dumb enough to try to pull another truck much less an inline 4x4.
I agree...some people have more money than brains

Ive got nothing to prove for a tug o war comp. If my breaks are strong enough then i can win against any truck, just cheat by waiting for them to slip first then pull them around like a rag doll. Every tug o war comp that ive seen, you see someones break lights on longer than the other....

careful what you claim, out of nessessity, with my scout, I pulled a 1 ton dodge sideways for about 30 ft, and he was hooked to a loaded car trailer...so your brakes obviously won't do any good

Well a little exaduration of course. Yea my brakes wont hold up to a mack truck trying to pull me backwards, but 1500 to 150 the person that spins first should have the disadvantage. I had a friend in a 03 ram single cab short box talk crap to me about my truck and he said he had a tow strap and we should hook up. I told him i dont do that, he called me the P word, i pouted for a while lol jk. Later that night i was pulling him out of the mud and then going back through where he got stuck. Good thing he had that tow strap...

I will agree with both statments. If someone is stupid enough to stomp on the gas and spin the tires, you can pull them all over. On the other note.
If you don't have enought grip they can pull you all over brakes locked or not.
Sorry but I just don't belive any 1/2,3/4 or 1 ton being able to hold the brakes and not be pulled by a Mack. I Have driven a few big trucks, and draged a few. A light duty truck (1/2 to 1 ton) won't do it.

kcb i kinda agree with u on the fact ford isnt the only durable engine i di a lot of research before getting my 300 and the big part of why its so much more durable than any other fords motors i believe diesels were made by navistar back then its because the inline design is a much tougher design than the v and it has 2 less cylinders and two less moving parts for each part in the cylinder

saying it's the most durable Ford engine is going out on a limb, theydo have a long stroke which could (depending on who you talk to) wear out faster.. It also depends on the application, I have a 351 in two of my fords which just love to rev. in comparison to my ihc 345, they also weigh about 250lbs less, but the ihc will go for 300,000 mi in a school bus no problem. Fords 2.3l pinto engine lasted forever as did the 2.0....so please compare apples to apples, a 300 might do fine for your application, but they suck for mine (even though it's an excellent engine) I've killed a couple, but have never worn out a small block.

If you want to talk about durability, it's up for grabs, a lot of it is how well it is taken care of and how it is driven.
If you take a 88 truck 302, AOD, 3.73's runs forever.
Identical truck, pulling 7,000 pounds only made it 150,000 miles. (piece of *&^)
It depends on how they are built, and driven.
Carbs have more of a problem with gas getting past the rings then fuel injection.
fuel injection doesnt' run as rich or as long as a carb. Can't flood a fuel injection to easy either.

Sounds like most V8 or Chevy buttheads. They don't know anything about the vehicle they drive, let alone what somebody else owns. Yet they feel as if they have the right to tell us what we hold in value sucks. It's an immature mindset. I've tried to learn as much about my motor as possible. I know where it hits it's most power.

I'll hook up to any chevy smallblock any day.

you just put yourself on the same level........nearly anyone will defend what they drive, but keep in mind that each engine will serve a purpose and to try and put yours on a pedestal will leave it vulnerable to people trying to knock it off

True. I've heard so many chevy boys assult my pickup and motor I've pretty much adopted the same mindset towards them.

I don't want to start a war here, and I AM A FORD MAN, I own 3 of the 92-96(97) generation trucks, and I will own another when I find the right 3/4 ton which I think I have.

The new '08 Chevy with the 4.8 has loads of power over the 300 I-6. Any will out pull a 351 on the interstate. My Mom has one, and on the occasion my Ford truck was broke down on the farm and I had 200 bales of Alphalpa/Timothy to go pick up.

I hooked up to the 28' GN flatbed 8 wheel trailer and I got it to 65mph and set the cruise. It maintained the speed on all the hills, no down wondering shifting, no strain, it's quite a truck.

Even though this is a fact, it is also 14 years newer than my truck and it only had about 15k miles on it at the time. My Ford with it's 300 however had about 450k miles on it at the time. It now has 496k miles on it. 4k miles of half a million miles on the original everything, and you can't tell me that that Chevy will still be on the road with that many miles. It's possible, but not likely. Especially being built in Mexico, I highly doubt it!

That's why I'm a ford fan, and I keep buying ford trucks. 92-96(97) style, the last of the truly American built Ford trucks.
