I have the same problem with my Expedition. Check and see if you have a "door ajar" light on. I believe it is a short in one of the door sensors.

I have had same problem, but I sprayed some lube in the latches of the overhead door and that fixed the problem.

here in Wi when the road are sloppy i find that the offending door is the passanger front 99% of the time. With all the slope from the road and all the moisture in the air the sensor is shorted. quick spray of cr get it dried out an protected until next season.

This happened to me about a week ago and I couldn't quite figure out what it was. The lights stayed on, so I pulled the fuse that powered them. Drove around for a few hours running errands, then I put the fuse back in and it magically fixed itself.

It's not the barn doors. It's the glass portion.

While you might think you have it firmly closed, sometimes it's not.

Has happened to me twice in the last year.

I have had this problem for about a month and still do. Used my remote start and the interior lites (IL) were on. I thought that was odd. Got in the X and they would not turn off. No door ajar lite on so I checked the normal dumb a** stuff like the lite switch is not on and all doors are really shut. No joy. So I opened and closed all doors, disconnected the remote starter and sprayed all the latches with BREAKFREE. Still no joy. So I pulled the IL fuse and lost my radio, dash instruments and electronic warfare. WOW, that sucked! I interchanged the "delay relay" and the "trailer tow relay" and it fixed it. So then a week later the same thing happens. Again, magic fixed it and I hate when magic fixes stuff. Then I was taking my Aunt home and stopped to move a tree limb out of the road and bam, back on again. Driving with the IL on is not fun and dangerous. That little incident drove me to remove the dash and instrument panel and install a circuit breaker in the wire from the instrument panel circuit board that powers the IL. Now if it screws up, until I find out what the true problem is, I can turn the IL off and not loose my radio, dash instruments and electronic warfare. Now three days ago the IL started working again, however, this morning no workee now. Back to the drawing board!

QUESTION: is the door ajar and IL control switch in the door one in the same? My wiring diagram manual does not show two different switches.

It appears I have two fix options: a new door switch or a new instrument panel circuit board.
