New headlights

Well got my '07 headlights installed yesterday, I must say that is the best looking mod I have done to my truck yet!! Can't wait to get my '07 grille installed! Trimming the header pannel was no biggie and the lights fit beautifully.
One other thing I did was I used my factory #9007 bulbs! I turned down the bulb body until it fit the light hole, it took a few min a bulb (using a lathe and a dremmel) but they fit just like the #9008s and I used the #9008 O-ring seal. So I didn't have to re-wire anything! This took a little figuring but it will work! I even reused the #3157 parking/blinker bulb which is clear from the factory lights.

For anyone thinking of doing this mod you won't be dissapointed at all. I plan to get some pics up very soon!

I'd like to see what you did to the bulbs. I have a set of 05-7 headlights but I have been waiting for Piaa to make 9008 bulbs before I installed them.

Surprisingly enough, I didn't get any $$ this year...kinda disappointing, but whatever.

As for the headlights, I really just want to get some clear cover ones...the stockers for the 99s are ok, but I like the clear projector type look. And I'm planning on install strobe light in the headlight assembly, so I don't what that to be dulled by the non-clear headlight. But the way things are looking, I might have to just install the strobes on the stockers until I've got $$ for the clear projectors.

Where did you order your headlights from?

I got a good friend to order them, he owns a local body shop. They were aftermarket although they look outstanding in finish and quality... we'll see. I don't remember exactly which aftermarket autobody place he got them from but I paid his cost which was CHEEP let's just say I paid less than 1/2 of one OEM for both of mine!!!

It was actuall quite easy, if you compare the two bulbs they are similar so what I did was turn down the size of the 9007 until it was the size of the 9008. And on the 9007 it has a big O-ring, take that off and turn down where the O-ring goes too. Now the ring that holds the O-ring in place - make it smaller but don't turn all the way down until its gone, you will have to use it for the 3 notches that match the 9008s 3 notches. It took about 10min to do the first bulb and about 4min to do the second... Just remember to use a good o-ring to make a good seal, I used some flat rubber that matched the 9008 original flat style o-ring. I figure I can turn more when I blow one but they should be fine as it didn't hurt anything and they shine great.
