Headlight swap
I have been waiting for all the parts to swap the jeweled headlights into my 2006 XL to replace the sealed beams that look cheap.
Well, the swap is totally complete, and so easy I could not stand it...I put the 2005/06 jeweled headlights into a 2006 XL with the sealed beams...no mods at all.
I bought the pigtails to fit the 9008 bulbs for $24....when I pulled out the XL sealed beams, I found that Ford had inserted a short pigtail that fit the sealed beam headlights...When I unplugged the pigtail, what was left from the factory was a socket that was for the 9008 bulbs (I think this only happens on the 2006)...a direct fit...boy was I surprised.
The headlights bolted exactly into place using the original hardware, and everythinglined up perfectly...the whole job took 20 milutes, only because I was being careful not to scratch anything.
By the way, if anyone is going to do this swap and need the plug-in sockets with wires and connectors for the 9008 bulbs, pm me for a good deal...Ford wants $40 each for theirs...
