I finally got my truck back from the body shop today. I an very pleased with the results. I have some pics of the repaired rear end in my gallery.
I also got to install those nfab nerf bars tonight. Pics also in the gallery. Let me know what you think.
I think the N-Fab bars look great on your truck. I have wanted a set for a long time now and wasn't sure if they were worth the money. How is the fit/finish on them?
I have a Reg. Cab (Check Gallery) and am not sure how they would look, but definitely need to do something, because the wife can't hardly get in it the way it sits.
TJ, I now see what you meant by them maybe flexing some because of they way the attach. When I step on them they do flex the rockers some. Keep in mind I only weigh 160lbs. I was looking at the nerf bar brackets. Seems it would be pretty easy to make a new bracket to go from the frame of the truck to the nfab mounting brackets. My only concern is will vibration from the frame be transferred into the cab if I do that?
I think I was supposed to get you some pics of how my bars bolt up wasn't I? I weigh 280 so they would flex alot under me! Also if you ever get tapped in the side by another car (happened to me right after I installed my step tubes) it will bend the rocker all up! not good. I would rather the frame take the little hits.
So you're saying I should mount it to the frame and remove the brackets from the rockers? You did mention getting some pics of how yours mount, but I get the idea seeing mine up there.
Mine still flex so tying into the rockers is not a bad idea but you might need to isolate it with some rubber for vibration and movement like you mentioned.
So where exactly do these bolt up? I would have thought they atleast had a bracket that tied onto the frame. I agree with you guys - It seems like it could really mess up the body on your truck if you were to get into a "minor accident". Hmmm, should I reconsider not getting these?..........
i wouldnt go from the cab to the frame your gonna tear the body up doing that since its mounted on bushings to let the frame flex under the body. i would just fab up some brackets to go strait to the frame. i built some for my truck that go right to the frame and had the main bar out far enough that i can get a high lift under it. i only use the jack where theres a bar going back to the frame and have reinforced thoose areas a bit more. ill have pics up in about a month when the rest of the suspension is done on the truck.
