That my frend is the filter cover that Pete aka F_250 sells. Help keep bugs and stuff out of the filter, and mostly looks cool.

I am surprised he is not on this thread. Look in other threads and if you see a filter like that in his aviator thats him. I would look him up for you but I have to go now.

That is probably the best photo, step, by step instructions I've seen here. I am surprised he didn't show drilling a hole in the steel connecting pipe, inserting a rubber grommet, then pluging in the air temp sensor to finish the job.

Has anyone done something like this for the air temp. sensor? I know most tie wrap it to the brake line, but wouldn't it be beneficial to install it in the piece of 4" pipe, if you used the pipe?

00Dave:

Yes, I did it to mine also. If you insert the proper size rubber grommet, the sensor won't move. It is secure (don't have to worry about losing it, and sucking in dirt), and it looks like a factory job when you use wire wrap.

Richard

PS: I used a 4" diameter stainless pipe, cut 3.5" long with a slight elbow bend. Set up that way, the filter does not contact the hood at all.

I have to sort of nestle mine down between the two protruding plastic extensions that are left from the bottom olf the OEM box... then the hood closes with a slight touch on one small area of the exdge of the filter near the intake... I can tell from the smudge it leaves on my filter covers.

Just did it and it looks mean as hell, I think I will be investing in a cover though. I see y'all talking about it "barely" touching the hood but mine is actually causing the hood to bow a little. Any suggestions

03 F250 PSD Stock + 6637 and come monday my DP chip will be here!!!!!!!

You need to keep making some adjustments if it's causing your hood to bow any at all. All mine does is get minor pressure and dirt smudges from the hood liner.

Worst case, you could cut off the protruding extensions from the bottom of the original mount that extend from underneath your battery tray bottom towards the driver.
