That is the 6637 mod you see in lots of peoples sigs. That is a popular mod in this fourm. You can get the 6637 filter at NAPA for around 50 bucks. I didn't notice what the price they were asking on that site, but I am sure you can get the parts cheaper.
EDIT: I just looked again, they are explaining how to install the 6637. I used a 3" dwv pvc coupling instead of the exhaust pipe to install mine. That is good instructions.

Yes Thats the 6637 Napa filter (Kwik) filter mod. a lot of people on this site have done. There is also a filter cover for the 6637. You can get that same filter from Fleet Filter .com for about 36.00 shipped. Thats what my last one was about 6 months ago. Good Luck!!!

So the OD on the 3" coupler was close to the 4" size? I dont have any 4" exhaust laying around. I installed a 5" on my truck
It gives you better air flow. I have done it on both of my psd's, but didnt use the coupler pipe. My intake tube slides over the filter with a little effort, maybe alot of effort!
What does this mod give you? Is it wroth the $50 filter?
It'll make your truck into a fire breathin' dragon!! Well, not quite but like Marc says it will give better air flow. Worth every penny, compaired to other air intakes.
Why do they call it a "conical" style filter? It's a cylinder.
Ask Gene I am sure he could explain. He called his old "worthless" filter setup a conical. I see you were in on that thread too IIRC. I gave up after the second page of 12ish
