huei pump

I have 151,000 miles and there's been nothing wrong with my truck till now.My injectors just went on my 99 power stroke. My mechanic just installed new aftermarket injectors(30 more HP). Now I am told that the huei pump may also be bad. This is after my fuel pump was just replaced. Is this typical?

No, it is not typical. Is your truck an early 99 or late? What kind of injectors did he put in? If they are bigger splits then you need big oil and he screwed you. Should have told you that up front.

So is it fair to say I need a bigger pump? I bought the injectors from a co worker who owns a high performance parts shop and I got them for cost. I don't have the specs on hand. I saved $1400.00 so it isn't a big hit if I nned a new pump.

You are missing my point which is we need to know what kind of injectors you bought. Even a later 17* pump will likely not keep up with the demands of a modified split shot injector. Please provide details of your truck and the injectors. Then we can proceed intelligently, well, at least pretend to anyway.

Think he's talking about the HPOP.(high press oil pump)

ditto to what mike said, need to find out the injector specs and wether they are split shots or single shots. Soounds like you got something close to a set of stage 1 split shots, just going off of the +30 hp gain

Its only typical when your mechanic does really know what he is doing! Sorry but I think you have been misdiagnosed and you are footing the bill. 150K isn't an average service life of a HPOP

Did you get some bad fuel (i.e. water or gas)? Kinda on the abnormal for having all the inj go bad at once.

Well, I didn't even want to go there. We all know all injectors don't fail at once unless the IDM or something else poops. They will never all fail at once where the injectors are the problem.

3 injectors were bad not all. It only makes sense to renew all when that happens.

I'd agree that "better safe than sorry" on these, especially once you're in there.

Still, we're wondering on the spec's of the injectors. When might we find out that critical bit of info?

Got the update this afternoon. The pressures are there. It just takes 7 seconds to get it. The injectors take the same oil flow as stock. Does it sound like it is electronic?? I won't get the injector specs till tomorrow. Do you think it is time to bring it to FORD? I just have a hard time paying $100.00 per hour and $150.00 to be hooked up to a computer to tell me what I already know.

it also cranks for 5 seconds before starting. It never took more than 2 seconds even in 10 below up north.
