i have a problem when i pump gas i cant pump witht hte handle at full throttle or it will splash back out .it takes me so long to pump gas because i have to hold the trigger half way and hope it does flow back the wrong way is this a common problem please help.
i thought of trying new rubber hosees to the tank to see if it would flow any better but those cost 40.00 bucks new the large and small together
This might sound wierd but under the truck on the filler hoses is there a piece of tape squeezing the two hoses together as they pass over the frame rail? If it is broken or missing, that could be the problem. The tape pulls the hoses to gether to keep them in the right position and keep them in the right shape. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more details on that one.
This is a common problem with 73-76 trucks. Its because there is no vent in the tank. I have a 73 bed on my 79 F250 and its a real PITA. Usually a easy solution is flip the nozzle over and pump with it upside down. Another method is get 16" or so piece of hose to fit down in the filler neck and pump through it.
Do a search this has been covered 100 times or more in recent months
Yeah cuz you have a 79 bed with the square fuel door and vent tube.
The older beds just have a gas cap = suck the big one!
Older beds & fillers still have the 5/8" vent tube. There isn't really much difference in the filler tubes. If they were layed out side by side they are basicly the same.
