Mine never go that low, but they did get down to 25, but my injectors are not as big as yours are as well. I believe that would play into it.
yeah without a gauge in the cab (which i don't have yet) i had no way of knowing when i was getting low fuel pressure, because every time i opened the hood to look it was okay, but on the dyno we could actually watch the gauge while the engine was under load and it actually went ALL THE WAY TO ZERO.. i was amazed myself.. the FASS was a nightmare in itself and took much modification to get it to work correctly with the ITP kit, but now the needle is rock steady at 60psi the whole pull !!
Why compare apples to oranges? OF course you would need a FASS/AIRDOG to help with larger injectors. My post was focused on the stock system running a RR fuel system. I'd doubt there's a need to run 60PSI on stock injectors even while using an SCT.
While the orginal post wasn't clear as to the current truck configuration we have covered both possibilities here now.
my ITP and my injectors were installed at the same time, so i never ran the ITP kit with stock injectors but i'm pretty sure that the stock pump would keep up the stock sticks even w/pretty aggressive tuning. i can't say for sure though, just an educated guess from what i've seen. my stock pump was good for over 400HP even with bigger sticks, but fuel pressure started falling off rather quickly at about the 450HP level.
as far as running the ITP kit (the best of the bunch IMHO) with stock injectors i still say it is worth the money from a performance/longevity point of view. if you dont plan on upping the power level of the truck, then you probably would not wanna spend the money, but if you are interested in making more power it is definitely a safeguard... and i say this because it is more of a "security" feature than a "horsepower" feature... Adding headstuds is most certainly a must for big power, but the studs themselves do nothing to ADD power, just let you use it... The ITP kit is more for allowing you to make the power safely than for adding the power itself.. does this make sense ?? By adding the ITP kit you should actually see a slight increase in power, throttle response etc but mostly the benefit is from getting proper fuel to ALL the injectors equally and also supplying fresh fuel and allowing you to prime the fuel system anytime you change filters or something like that.
stock system deadheads the fuel at the heads, and supplies fuel to the passenger side head AFTER the driver side head has taken what it needs, this kit allows the fuel to be distributed evenly to both heads at a constant, regulated pressure while allowing for a complete loop of the fuel back to the tank to keep cool fuel supply to the motor.
also, there is a benefit to higher fuel pressure even with stock injectors and an SCT... 40psi is the MINIMUM recomended, i believe factory is like 55psi, but anytime you increase fuel pressure to the system with all other variables being constant, you will be able to get a benefit, your injector recovery time will be shortened (they will fill faster) and be more efficient. i may be a bit biased though, since i've got about 1500 bucks JUST in my fuel system
