I am purchasing a used 300 I6 tomorrow.I already have one in my '76 HiBoy now but it need's to be re-built.My question is-If I were to put a stronger cam (Comp 268 for example)in the motor, would the piston's need to be changed as well?
I'm curious about this too. I plan on putting a better cam in mine when I rebuild it (hopefully not any time soon) and I don't know the first thing about cam's.

I talked to a guy at work last night,he figures there's no need to change pistons unless the cam requires different compression.?I don't know.
The 268 should be fine, but anything larger would have me wondering with the carb head and pistons. On the EFI engines you'd have to get a pretty lumpy cam to even come close.
