Just a question,

Has anyone had the EBPV stick shut or move into the shut position (AFTER) it is unpluged? AND if so, did it affect your mileage...

I am only thinking this because my exhaust sounded a little weird this morning (it's not real cold only 16 :-) ) so I wonder if it had started to swing shut...


I am getting TERRIBLE gas Mileage!!!!


I have gone from 16 - 18 mpg to 12 (or less!!!!) NO LEAKS!!!!

IMHO one possibility is that the valve dont open all the way and could be partialy closed, Im going to check that in my truck because I also have a drop in the MPG. I dont know if we can move it manually, but Im going to try.

your EBPV is unplugged im guessing mcdavidson? What i found out is if you un-plug it but leave the connectors partially together (i did this to keep dirt out of it) it may slide close enough in to turn the EBPV on.

Yep, it is unplugged... And I didn't worry to much about the dirt... They are ends are fully separated... hmm

I did try to move it by hand...

Sure didn't seem like it wanted to go anywhere...

I did the same thing. You have to get some grunt into it to move. Can't remember if it is CW or CCW but it does move, then snap back. You can see a stop tab so move it the other way.

I also wondered the same thing as I do have it not plugged in and in morning just seems like something is fighting the exhaust. Don't know yet as still have Cat not gutted yet so maybe it is not firing up until truck is warm.

I was having similar problems and when I disconnected the plug I got a continual CEL. You can wire the valve in the open position but the CEL stays on. I ended up buying a terminator (Dfuser EBPV Eliminator) from Pure Diesel Power ($28.00) that kinda looks like a connector shunt. It plugs into the connector on the wire and keeps the EBPV in the open poistion and no codes!
