I'll be up front about this....I HATE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS!
So heres the deal....1986 F-150 Short box L6 300 4x4 with the BW transfer case and the C6....Everythings been fine and dandy for a while...but now its not up shifting....It starts out in 1st, but will wind out to about 25-30 before it hits another gear, and it seems very confused when it shifts...(I know...a mechanical device being confused....) its almost like it doesn't go to second....or maybe it goes to it for a split second...I can't really tell. Using the colum level works to no avail...if I put it in 2nd it still likes first gear...
This transmission has always been a little 'slow' as in it takes a few seconds for it to engauge, and it give a nice heavy bang and clank noise, but the fluid is normal color and does not smell burt or sulfery as my last C6 did when it decided to eat its planitary and everything else inside....Like I stated...I hate automatics....and I really don't know a whole lot about them...but I'd appreciate any insight or tips.
That sounds like a bad vacumn modulator. Pull the vacumn hose off the modulator. There should not be any fluid in the hose. If there is any liquid you should change the modulator. If the hose is dry start the motor and check for vacumn. It should be manifold vacumn.
Alright, Thanks I'll check into that later, most likely when its daylight out; not to sound to dumb as far as automatics go...but there should only be one vac line comming off of this thing right?
