Sloppy Wipers

My windshield wipers have a lot of play in them. Today I checked it out and it seems like most of the play is coming from the bushings on either end of the bars that transfer the movement from the wiper motor to the wiper pivots. No problem, I thought I would be able to find them in one of my catalogs, order them and be happy. Am I blind? I can't find anyone offering them.... Anyone been down this road and have any pointers? Thanks!

The bushings were only sold with the pivot arms, not separately.

C3TZ-17545-A .. Pivot Arm ~ Right Side / 12 1/4" long.

C1TB-17540-A .. Pivot Arm ~ Left Side / 12 1/2" long. *

Fit: 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1967/68 F800/1000 / with single or 2 speed electric wipers.

*FTE sponsor GREEN SALES (800-543-4959) has 10 of these in stock, but none of the other side.

Been my experience that the passenger side doesn't have the issue like the drivers side does. That could splain why the drivers side only. IMHO

Perhaps this eBay item would work, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/61-62-63-64-65-66-Ford-F100-wiper-motor-w-mount-arms_W0QQitemZ120211791169QQihZ002QQcategoryZ14071 6QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You could use the arms and have a spare motor in the process.

Thanks everyone! That ebay item might be the way to go. My other problem is that my wipers won't park. I just always catch them on the way down to park them but it's not the most fun. I'm assuming this is a motor issue but I'm not sure. Any way to tell from the picture if that is a one or two speed motor? I currently have a factory two speed.

OK I have so been down this road. After buying a new motor from ebay and instaling it I noticed that the pivot arms where loose. They are like a nut and bolt and tighten on to the cowl area. The pivot arm is the bolt and the chrome round thingy on the outside on the cowl is the nut. That said you will notice 2 notches on the chrome nut thing so how are you suppose to tighten it?? I made a tool. Take a 19mm deep socket and grind away until it fits into the notchs of the chrome thing/nut and crank it on and your done. Hope this helps.

Ditto here...I just assumed this was normal. Also, they don't park down near the windshield rubber like modern cars do, instead they stop about 3"-4" short...assumed this was also normal.

The windshield wiper motor's parking switch is out of adjustment...that's the problem.

The good news is it's adjustable (just don't ask me how to adjust it, cuz I dunno).

It was also available separately from the motor, as you can see.

1963/66 F100/350

C3AZ-17B583-A .. Parking Switch Assy ~ Single Speed Wipers - GREEN SALES has 4 of these.

C6OZ-17B583-A .. Parking Switch Assy ~ Two speed Wipers - Green Sales: Zero.

C3AZ = also fits 1965/66 Mustang / 1963/64 Galaxie w/ single speed wipers.

C6OZ = also fits 1966/67 Mustang/Falcon/Fairlane w/ 2 speed wipers

The two switches are the same as the cars, but not the motor itself.

ebay motor: Pic is too dark to ID...but ask the seller for the ID number off the motor, post it here, I'll ID it from that.

I believe NDP sells a tool for this kind of situation...in their catalog it is part #928-1 and costs $17.

Don't know how to help, I didn't see anything like a parking switch when I swapped motors in my truck. I do recall running it off the battery and watching it park, making me think it is built in. I also recall having to use the 66 arm on the motor because the 76 was in a different position and the wipers had parked at a different place.

I had removed everything from the 76 and found nothing past the wiper motor exchanged, and had to exchange the motor arm as described above.

My two cents, If the motor is turning buying the one on Ebay isn't the answer.

It's inside the stamped steel cover (held on with 2 screws) on the wiper motor.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I'm going to have to tear into this soon. Maybe I'll have to take pictures along the way and write a little how to!
