My 2001 F350 diesel has an electrical problem I can not solve. When the intermittant wipers come on, the engine cuts out. If idling, the engine dies. Recently it has begun cutting out or stumbling at highway speeds even when the wipers are not on. I have replaced the wiper motor and the wiper control on the steering column with no improvement. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Seems like some of the symptoms of a bad CPS. Change your CPS and see what happens.

CPS = Camshaft Position Sensor. A common weak point on the PSD that causes the symptoms u described when it's going bad. It's possible the Wiper motor somehow created some electrical noise that it picked up and that is what caused the stumbling. A new CPS is about $100 from an IHC dealer. Don't go to
Ford they'll rip u off. Click HERE to read about it online at one of our sponsors.

I am ecstatic! I ordered a CPS and installed it. My windshield wipers no longer cause engine cuts and the truck has not died one time since installation! Thank you for helping me solve this problem. I would never have thought of that on my own and the Ford shop didn't have a clue what was wrong!
Thanks for reporting back that it fixed it for ya! Might consider ordering a second from Ebay or someplace and keeping it in the truck along with the tools to change it, as they can go out anytime and leave you stranded. Some guys have gone through as many as FOUR CPS's in one truck.
